Who am I? What do I hold dear? What do I stand for?

As part of a liberal, religious tradition, many of us find the answers to these questions, in part, by putting our values to work in addressing social justice and environmental issues. Within the UUFL, our Social Action Committee is passionate about working on a range of local, regional, and national environmental initiatives.

Citizens for Climate Change Lobby (CCL). The state chapter of this national organization works on climate justice in Wyoming and on mitigating climate risk by advocating for a system-wide climate change solution. They coordinate local projects with the national CCL UU Action Team and also with the Unitarian Universalist Ministry for Earth. Their current special initiative is reducing carbon emissions nationwide. If you are interested in finding out about what you can do to join this initiative, contact Madeline Dalrymple, 307 977-5462 or laramieccl@gmail.com

Albany County Clean Water Advocates (ACCWA). This local organization has been working hard to educate and raise awareness about the risks to the Casper Aquifer, which provides half of Laramie’s drinking water. Their mission is to insure that this amazing source of water remains clean for us and generations to come. For more information, check out the ACCWA Website and Facebook age or contact Marian Erdelyi, 760-8273, erdelyi@wyomail.com .

Gender Equality. UUFL is proud of its designation as a Welcoming Community in recognition of the congregation’s support of gender equality and for its leadership role in Laramie’s response to the murder of Matthew Shepard in 1998.
