As UUs, we believing in carrying our values into our local community and invite everyone to join us in our range of programs.

Family Promise of Albany County

Since 2018, our congregation has been a partner of Family Promise of Albany County, which supports homeless families with temporary shelter and assistance in finding permanent housing. At present, families are housed in local hotels/motels rather than in church buildings. But participating congregations in the community continue to provide meals for families in the program on a rotating schedule.

The Family Promise team receives meal items at their office in the United Presbyterian Church, 215 S. 11th Street, Laramie, from 9am-4pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays. To contact Family Promise directly, call 742-6480.  The UUFL contact person is Bren Lieske at bpatchranch@yahoo.com.

Friendship Families of Laramie

Another program open to the community that our Social Action Committee has sponsored for over ten years is the Friendship Families Program of Laramie. This is a non-live-in host family program where international students attending the University of Wyoming are matched with local Laramie families—for the joy of getting to know each other, learning about each other’s cultures and sharing activities together. Families and singles alike are welcome to become host families. Contact Leann Naughton at 745-0747 or leann868@msn.com if you want to learn more  or would like to participate in this program.  (Due to the current pandemic, the Friendship Families Program of Laramie is temporarily on hold.)

Chocolate Fiesta

UU Laramie’s Chocolate Fiesta is a much-loved annual event that raises funds for a designated local nonprofit organization each year. The Fiesta is held at on the Saturday before Valentine’s Day and features hundreds of chocolate goodies for sale.
